Υπάρχουν πολλά φύσει καλά που κάνουν οι άνθρωποι, τα οποία δεν είναι καλά για κάποια αιτία. π.χ. η νηστεία, η αγρυπνία, η προσευχή, η ψαλμωδία, η φιλοξενία, είναι φύσει καλά έργα, αλλ’ όταν γίνονται από κενοδοξία, δεν είναι καλά.
Για όλα όσα κάνομε, ο Θεός εξετάζει το σκοπό, αν τα κάνομε γι’ Αυτόν ή από άλλη αιτία.
